I originally started doing a painting of a raver in the dark (which you will see in breadth#10). I realized that my painting needed to go in a different direction so I did a study of a gladiator helmet instead. I randomly noticed on the top of my living room wall unit and thought it was interesting. When drawing this, I realized metal is really hard to shade because of reflections. It was a pain but I managed and I think it turned out alright. Yes, it can be improved; nearly everything can, but overall its not terrible but not absolutely great. When looking at this piece, I feel it looks more blocky and solid rather than fluid and smooth. I think I did a good job on using all of the paper. I usually have trouble with filling up the page but not this time. I feel I am more strong in drawing rather than painting but I truly want to master the paint because I know that I can draw. There is no doubt in my mind but painting is the real challenge and I want to paint more. |
